Writing, Editing, Project Management
I work independently or as part of a team to bring your project from concept to final product. If you need creative input, I'm happy to offer my ideas. Or, if you know just what you're after, I will take the ball and run with it. In either case, here is a brief outline of the process that works well for most clients.
Writing
We will discuss the nature of your project—what you need to achieve, your specifications, and time frame—and I begin to collect information. I will ask you for background material, interview contacts within and/or outside your organization, and after conducting the research related to your project, I start to write.
You will receive a first draft on or before our agreed upon deadline. This is your chance to process approvals, make changes, and ask for revisions. You will then receive a final draft unless arrangements for an additional round of edits have been made in advance.
Editing
You have copy—a brochure, a report, a product description. The information is there, but it's too long. It plods; it doesn't sing. You suspect no one will read it.
I turn words into writing that works. My editing and rewriting skills transform jargon-laden "business speak" into compelling ideas and give new life to tired-sounding messages. Whether a project needs wordsmithing, restructuring, or requires additional research, I will make the changes and submit them for your review before producing the finished product.
Project Management
Working with either your staff or my associates in graphic and web design, I will manage the creation of a newsletter, brochure, or web site from concept through publication. We will work on a timeline and approval process that guarantees the delivery of your print or web-based publication within budget and on schedule. As project manager, writer and/or editor, I will communicate with other members of your organization to coordinate all aspects of the project and ensure an editorially and graphically high-level publication.
